Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 amβ10 pm. Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Philadelphia peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Bai Wei used to be the pride of Philly's Chinese food scene β the restaurant everyone recommended. Tonight, the dining experience was a disaster from start to finish, and it really feels like the quality has fallen off a cliff. Food: We ordered dishes that used to be excellent. One bite in, it was obvious something was off β over-salted, unevenly seasoned, nowhere near the level it used to be. Service: Plates were set down carelessly at the edge of the table and left there, with no help arranging anything β we had to do it ourselves. The attitude felt cold and indifferent throughout. Takeout experience: This was the most frustrating part. We asked a server to box up our leftovers. He took the dish to the back and never came back. We waited a full 30 minutes. When we tried to find help, almost every server seemed to have vanished. We finally caught one who said he'd "check," then disappeared for another 10 minutes with no update. In total, we waited half an hour just to get a box of leftovers. Honestly, both the front and back of house felt like they were failing β it seems like there are serious issues with management and staff attitudes. The one exception was the older woman c

Bai Wei was an excellent stop in Philadelphia! We had several family style dishes, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, with generous portions and authentic taste. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was clean and welcoming. Whether youβre looking for a quick bite or a full meal, this is definitely a place worth visiting. We really enjoyed our meal and will be back the next time weβre in Philadelphia!

We came here and the atmosphere is very relaxing. We got seated immediately and they got our orders in quick. The food came out very fast and it was delicious. The staff was also very nice and we got a lot of complimentary candy. Would definitely recommend, especially the dumplings.

Really nice dim sum spot in the heart of Chinatown. Very clean, bright, spacious, all booth seating (I love booths), our waiter was super nice and patient (language barrier), and all of the food was delicious, not one bad dish! This might be my new go-to in Chinatown. (RIP Imperial Inn)

This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. It was new to me that they charge 50cents for rice, it doesnβt come with the entrees. Their eggplant dish and Japanese tofu dish was super good!! I highly recommend to try those and portions were good sized. I got three entrees to share and one rice to share w three people and I would say I left pretty full.
